Event: The Journey of Biotech Innovation and Investment in Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry (HKAPI) is delighted to be one of the supporting organizations of the hybrid event hosted by InvestHK – “The Journey of Biotech Innovation and Investment in Hong Kong” on 7 July. 

With Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) as the other two supporting organizations, the event brought together a hundred representatives from pharmaceutical, biomedical and investment companies, Science Park and some of the Health@InnoHK Centers, to share their perspectives on biotech innovation and investment in Hong Kong.

The event began with a warm welcome from Mr Stephen Phillips (Director-General of Investment Promotion, Invest Hong Kong). Mr Andy Wong (Head, Innovation and Technology, Invest Hong Kong) then highlighted the latest development in life and health sciences.

Mr Raj Bhatti (President of the HKAPI) introduced the Association’s initiatives in driving healthcare I&T, while Dr Grace Lau (Head of Institute for Translational Research, HKSTP), Mr Patrick Siu (CEO, Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park Limited) and Mr Michael Chan (Senior Vice President of Global Issuer Services, HKEX) shared how their organizations help support researchers, i.e., services, facilities and funding etc.

Representatives of Health@InnoHK Centers shared their insights on biotech innovation and investment in Hong Kong at the Q&A Session.

Last but not least, we are grateful to learn from representatives of Health@InnoHK Centers about their research projects and insights on biotech innovation and investment in Hong Kong. Speakers included Prof Dennis Lo (Scientific Director, Centre for Novostics), Prof Siew Ng (Director, Microbiota I-Center Limited), Prof Francis Chan (Co-director, Microbiota I-Center Limited), Prof Leo Poon (Principal Investigator, Centre for Immunology & Infection (C2i)) and Prof Ben Thompson (CEO and Scientific Director, Centre for Eye and Vision Research).
