The HKAPI was registered
in accordance with the provisions of section
5 of the Societies Ordinance on 20th June,
1968. Currently it is managed under the direction
of the Board of Directors and the Executive
Director.
There are three classes of membership of the
Association:
- Full membership, which
consists of companies engaged in research
and/or development of pharmaceuticals.
Should such a company also manufacture,
it must do so in accordance with good manufacturing
practice and quality control. Companies
whose business is primarily the manufacture
of generic products are excluded from membership.
- Affiliate membership, which
shall be extended to companies which qualify
as full members but do not yet have a product
on the Hong Kong market. Such companies are
entitled to all the benefits of full membership
except: -
- election to the Board
of Directors
- the right to acquire a
copy of any of the Association's Survey Reports,
which is at the discretion of the Board of
Directors
- Associate membership, which
shall be extended to companies engaged in providing
services to the pharmaceutical industry. Associate
members shall not have the right to vote at
meetings of the Association, or to participate
in or receive the results of HKAPI surveys,
nor shall they be eligible for election to
the Board of Directors. Associate members may
be invited by the Board of Directors to serve
on committees and/or ad hoc groups for a specific
purpose. The annual subscription for each individual
associate member shall be determined by the
Board of Directors.
All applications for membership
are screened by the Board of Directors; upon
approval an entrance fee of HK$10,000 for full/affiliate member or HK$5,000 for associate member and annual
subscription are payable. The annual subscription
is:
- Full members : on
